Books I received for Christmas 2020, a nice end to a bonkers year!
Hello and welcome to my first post on my new blog! I’m so excited to be here, writing about books and keeping myself accountable for my reading. This is going to be a cheeky little post about the books I received this year for Christmas, most of which will be appearing in my 2021 TBR, so definitely keep your eyes out for that!
The first book I’m going to chat about is Women Don’t Owe You Pretty by Florence Given. Described as an accessible leap into feminism sounds like a phenomenal and uplifting read all about how to break down the patriarchal structure of society that we have been living in for far too long. Since receiving this book, I’ve learnt about the issue between Florence Given and Chidera Eggerue and her book What a Time to be Alive. Due to the serious allegations surrounding Florence Given and plagiarising, I probably will not be reading this book any time soon. I would recommend heading over to Chidera’s Instagram @theslumflower if you want to know more about this!
Next, I have Great Expectations by Charles Dickens which was actually a book I was given second-hand, and you know what, I’m absolutely here for that.
I was gifted two books by Erin Morgenstern: The Starless Sea and The Night Circus, both of which I have been wanted to read for a long time. I am SO incredibly excited to read these two, I have heard so so so much about them!
This one I asked for specifically, mostly due to how much Regan from PeruseProject was raving about the trilogy this year, and that’s the first book of the Farseer Trilogy; Assassin’s Apprentice.
Finally, a beautiful hardcover edition of Stephen Fry’s newest novel Troy which I am so incredibly excited about.
So there’s my cheeky little Christmas haul from 2020, and I can promise you there will be plenty for book hauls + book mail posts in 2021!
